About Kinfolk House
Kinfolk House is a nonprofit collaborative project space rooted in the Polytechnic neighborhood of Fort Worth, a predominantly Black and Latina/e/o community on the city’s east side.
Located in a century-old historic home at 1913 Wallace Street, Kinfolk House is where community and art converge. Founded by celebrated artists Sedrick and Letitia Huckaby, Kinfolk House carries forward the legacy of Hallie Beatrice Carpenter, “Big Momma,” the home’s original owner, whose creativity and community spirit continue to shape the organization’s work.
What We Do
Kinfolk House creates space for artists, families, students, neighbors, and community members to gather, learn, create, and connect.
- Collaborative Artist seasons featuring visual art, performance, installation, printmaking, mixed media, and more
- Public events, artist talks, and community gatherings open to all
- Educational workshops and programs for students, families, and neighbors
- Bilingual and cultural programming that reflects the richness of Polytechnic

This challenge grant creates a time-sensitive opportunity to double every Fort Worth-based gift.
Kinfolk House has already proven its value with limited infrastructure. Now, we are ready to strengthen our foundation, grow strategically, and build the staffing and fundraising systems needed to sustain this work long-term.

What Your Gift Supports
- Full-Time Managing Director: Dedicated leadership to guide operations, cultivate partnerships, steward donors, and carry the vision of Kinfolk House with focus and consistency.
- Part-Time Grants Coordinator: Targeted fundraising capacity to identify, apply for, and steward grants.
- Continued and Expanded Community Outreach: Expanded artist stipends, programming, public events, educational partnerships, and neighborhood-rooted engagement.
